As versatile as our smartphones are and will be in the near future, there is one thing that these devices cannot do: transform into a gun, or to have an extended pistol at that. Fortunately for smartphone users who also want to take a knack in the gun wielding business, MetalCompass is about to make your day.

Two gaming accessories for smartphones – the Xappr and the Micro-Xappr guns will be unveiled by MetalCompass in an international toy fair in Nuremberg, Germany between February 1st and 6th. Oren Shtark, MetalCompass’ CDO said that “the Xappr guns has already more than 10 amazing augmented reality games that will allow the player to intercept alien spaceships, find and eliminate ghosts, fight evil flying robots, hunt a horde of blood thirsty zombies and the most important – engage in battle with other players.”
Of course, preloaded and downloadable games are a part of every smartphone, but it can only do so much to impress and give us worthwhile entertainment. Having Xappr to zap alien hordes and zombie armies to kingdom come will most likely be a time consuming event.

Also included in MetalComapss’ timeline is a multiplayer FPS exclusive for smartphones which they are calling ATK. ATK will allow players to use an assortment of weapons from guns and rifles to pulse weapons and will support Death-match, Last Man Standing and Team mode.
The smartphone peripheral will work on iPhones, Android and Windows based phones although games are only available on the iOS and Android platforms as of the moment. MetalCompass is set to ship the guns come June but pre-orders are already available at $30 plus shipping in the US. Expect Xappr and MetalCompass to expand its reach to other smartphones sometime soon. Lock and load!
