When it comes to TV, almost everything now is very advanced now as having a single LCD TV is enough to do your needs. One of the companies doing this is Canonical and Ubuntu, where they have created their latest product, the Ubuntu TV, and demoed it at CES event.

The Ubuntu TV is a 10-foot TV where you can almost do anything—-from web browsing to watching TV to watching multimedia content through streaming. For watching TV, you can search, record and play them TV shows, so you don’t have to worry about missin episodes of your favorite series. Then, you can integrate/connect your cable or satellite service in the TV so you can have a unified customer experience. With the Ubuntu TV, you will have a clear signal and there won’t be any gap between television manufacturers and cable providers.

You are always online with this TV because content providers offer various catalogue of movies, TV shows, photos and videos straight from the Internet. Then you can connect your computer, laptop, tablets or phones so you can have high-quality second-screen experience. No need to transfer the content as you can watch it from small screen to big screen.

The Ubuntu TV also has a feature called “Intelligent search” where it can prioritize the channels and shows that you enjoyed previously and even make suggestions on what other multimedia content you might like. With these, the TV can suggest TV series or movies that you might want to watch or record for the week.

Another feature is picking up where you left off. For example, you watched a movie in your tablet and stopped it in the middle. You can continue watching where you left off from the tablet to the big screen without looking for the time and place. The TV also rubs applications that can be delivered from an online store and update them when necessary.

If the features are superb, so are the specs. It has a disk space of 2 GB and a video memory of 512 MB. It has HDMI, CEC support, USB host support, Bluetooth HCI interface, network connectivity of Gigabit Ethernet & Wireless b/g/n and a modular tuner for broadcast TV. For now, the TV set is still in its concept stage but it’s pretty interesting, nonetheless. More details in the video below.
