Steve Kondik and his CyanogenMod team is back with the latest firmware modification for Android Ice Cream Sandwich, CyanogenMod 9. Known as the Trebuchet launcher, the ICS launcher for CM9 allows users to customize their devices with a number of features not found in the official ICS release.
Trebuchet Launcher currently works only with 4.0.3+ devices and requires root access. Interested users need to download the Trebuchet.zip file, put on their SD cards and flash in recovery. Among several features in the CM9 mod includes the ability to Resize any widgets, custom number of homescreens, separeted apps/widgets in Drawer, enable/disable Auto-rotate, enable/disable persistent search bar, show and fade scrolling indicator in homescreen and drawer and Drawer apps sorting.
Of course, CM9 doesn’t end there. Android ICS owners should also expect future updates including Backup and restore, Transition effects for homescreen and drawer, Infinite scrolling and Dock (custom pages and size).
Users have to be aware that this is an Alpha build and might experience a few bugs along the way. Current platform modification is based on the source code of Android 4.0.1 and focused on bringing unique look to ICS-equipped mobile gadgets.
