Sony has exciting news for the good people of the UK. During this year’s CES, the Japanese conglomerate announced that their flagship Xperia Z smartphone will soon be reaching UK shores before the end of February.
Sony’s Xperia Z boasts of having a 1080p HD display screen that has been outfitted with a Mobile Bravia Engine 2, giving it unmatched clarity and brilliance. The phone is sleek and slim at 7.9mm, runs on the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, a quad-core Snapdragon 1.5Ghz S4 Pro processor and a RAM of 2GB. The Xperia Z comes in black, purple and white models, has 4G LTE connectivity, NFC and a 13 megapixel rear camera. And best of all, it is waterproof so the klutz in all of us can rest easy.
Sony is currently accepting pre-orders of the Xperia Z at their online Mobile Shop for £529, roughly the same price as the iPhone 5 on its initial release. Consumers can also get the Xperia Z at Three, one of the UK’s premier mobile providers, for around £69 thru its Ultimate Internet 500 plan which would set one back £34 a month. Three has already started taking pre-orders and the first 1,000 customers to sign up for a year’s contract with the company will also get a free pair of Sony MDR-1R Prestige headphones, a pretty sweet deal when you factor in the fact that the headset costs about £300.
Three has announced that the Xperia Z will be available starting February 28. Other UK phone distributors are also set to offer the Xperia Z but have not released any statement on price or availability.
