Sony isn’t the name that would first spring to someone’s mind when tablets are being discussed. However, the company seems set on changing that perception with the official announcement of a new player in the tablet wars, the Xperia Tablet Z.
There have been leaks and unsubstantiated reports of the Xperia Z’s features and specs the past few weeks. But Sony has confirmed that the Xperia Tablet Z does have a 10.1” Mobile Bravia Engine 2 screen with 1,920 x 1,200p, an 8.1mp camera, NFC, 4G LTE and an S-Force surround sound all wrapped in a dustproof, shock-proof and waterproof 6.9mm thick body. The tablet runs on the Android 4.1 and has a quad-core 1.5GHz processor.
The Xperia Tablet Z comes in black and white models and has a design reminiscent of the Xperia Z smart phone that made waves in CES 2013. The Xperia Z tablet is undoubtedly a big improvement over the uniquely designed Tablet S, especially with its highly ranked “Auto Low Premium” camera mode that takes beautiful snaps even in low-light conditions.
Sony is mum on key information regarding when the Xperia Tablet Z will roll-out and its price tag, but if you’re a fan of Sony products and are on the look-out for a cool looking tablet that can do the job, then the Xperia Z might just be worth the wait.
