Kia Sorento 2014 With UVO Tech Includes Google Maps, Price Still MIA


In a press release made by Kia Motors America, it announces a new partnership with Google that aims to integrate its Google Solutions particularly the Google Maps and Places in their existing UVO platform for its target first quarter release of 2014 Sorento CUV.

Kia’s UVO eServices first mobile app-based telematics system, provide hands-free mobile phone management capabilities and control of music. If this will be integrated with enabled Application Program Interfaces (APIs) and Google solutions, these will provide better in-car connectivity and navigation solutions.

Aside from Google Integration, other key features of UVO eServices are eServices Guide that places a phone call via Bluetooth to a voice response system that can be accessed via touch screen or voice command. A portal called Car Care Web used to check vehicle diagnostics, status, maintenance schedules, driving behavior, and schedule appointments.

The My POI allows owners to send a destination from Google Maps straight to their smartphone via UVO eServices vehicle app. The Parking Minder helps the drive finds the vehicle location by sending the information to the driver’s smartphone. The Vehicle Diagnostics communicate the vehicle’s issue and location to Kia’s 24/7 call center to schedule an appointment with the Kia’s dealer upon the owner’s preference and the 911 Connect is an emergency alert service that dials 911 for help notification.
