Japan-based developer of online games and application software Cyberstep recently unveiled KDJ-One, a portable mobile workstation with audio functionalities and capabilities such as sequencer and a powerful synthesizer. Under the hood is a 1.0Ghz Intel Atom E640 processor and 512RAM. For controlling the piano-roll editor, a 5-inch WVGA touchscreen is provided with 800 x 400 resolution. It also sports a 4GB SSD, a Jog dial, a rumble pack and 15 chunky rubber LED-lit keys. The prototype device was recently featured at the NAMM event and also referred to as the Game Boy of music gaming because of its design and features.

The device comes in Game Boy Black’n'Red and White color and features an ACIDized WAV support for time stretching of audio clips. A wireless integration and WLAN support functionalities is also possible with KDJ-One.For the other specs, KDJ-One has microSD, USB Memory, a USB 2.0 host x 2, slave x 1, a synthesizer with 14Mb waveform memory and a sequencer with loop and step recording modes. KDJ-One has a QW Vibration, a case size of 126mm x 150mm x 27mm and weights 380g.
The digital audio workstation is available for $800, while a WiFi version has a price tag of $830 but availability comes only after six months from data of pre-order. If you’re interested to get one perhaps it would be best to watch the demo video first. See below.
