The buzz is going around the gaming community that this so-called “Phantom Pain” is the next generation title for Hideo Kojima’s Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes. This was after an intense and stunning trailer of a first-new game developed by Moby Dick Studios was presented in the 10th annual Spike Video Games Award show held last December 7. Moby Dick Studios is introduced as a game developing company in Stockholm, Sweden founded by CEO Joakim Mogren.

Linkage to Metal Gear Solid arises when the trailer shows clues to distinct characters, like the masked figure that seemed to be similar to Psycho Mantis and Solid Snake/Big Boss and trademarks related to Metal Gear Solid. Some are analyzing also whether “Joakim” is a possible anagram of “Kojima”. Another clue discovered is when Kyle Cooper, motion title sequence designer of Metal Gear Solid, was seen wearing a Phantom Pain/Moby Dick Studio shirt in the Konami party. Konami owns the rights of Metal Gear Solid.
The company has not disclosed any information yet on the release date, where it will be released, game specifications, nor even in what devices will it run. But in their website, although limited information is posted, logos of Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 are shown making hunches that it will be released in those platforms.
For now, these are just smart speculations. Proofs are presented that game enthusiasts are keen in identifying “The Phantom Pain” could be Metal Gear V. Its full release will either support their claim or end their doubts.
