Intimacy is the state of being intimate. It’s also the name of a futuristic design that brings the concept of wearing a revealing dress to a whole new level. The dress is said to be revealing not because of the design but because of the fabric. It slowly becomes transparent when the wearer feels the stirrings of arousal.
Conceptualized by designer Daan Roosegaarde, the Intimacy 2.0 dress, has caught the eyes of fashionistas because of its seamless merging of technology and romance. Roosegaarde’s design utilizes leather ribbons and “e-foils”. This groundbreaking material is comfortably opaque and can detect the wearer’s heartbeat. Once the heart starts racing and the blood gets pumping, the “e-foils” become clear.
The concept of the disappearing dress isn’t exactly new. Roosegaard’s design studio has been kicking the idea around and has developed several prototypes for the past 3 years. The current incarnation of the dress comes in two designs, the Intimacy Black and the Intimacy White. The line is on display in several key fashion cities and the designer has admitted he has been in discussions about producing a line of Intimacy clothes for mass consumption.
This dress from the future would undoubtedly be a challenge for the wearer as any activity can result in one showing more than they are willing too. But it also gives their date a good idea on how the evening would end.
