Good News! Custom PC maker Origin has already started using the new Intel’s Core i7 990x Extreme Edition. What’s more exciting is that Origin PC pushed the processor’s limits on its desktop and laptop devices.
Intel has recently launched the Core i7 990x boasting 6 powerful cores with normal clock frequency of 3.46 GHz. Aside from that, the new processor boasts its Hyper-Threading technology with a total of 12 Threads, 12MB Cache and 6.4 GT/s Intel QPI Speed.
As mentioned, Origin had successfully cranked the clock frequency to 4.6 GHz (using liquid cooling), in order to give its users maximum performance. Compare that to the previous Core i7-980X which it only overclocked up to 4.4GHz. New Origin desktop and laptop systems will have a clean 200MHz advantage. The company also announced that it will be using the new processor to its Genesis desktop as well as its Eon-17 gaming laptop.
