The big hit social network is going to start collecting at least £10 from British Fb users who wish to get connected to people who are not that much of close acquaintance such as celebrities and other public personalities among others thru private messaging. The fees to be charged scale up depending on the individual’s popularity and number of followers.

A source claimed that users may be able to contact public figures such as Michael Rosen, Tom Daley and Salman Rushdie at a rate of £10.68, (around 16 greenbacks). According to Facebook, the said new paid messaging system is geared at preventing the social network patrons of getting too many spam messages from strangers and allowing you to hear from other people (good for celebrities?).

Users were previously allowed to send messages for free even to users outside their circle of friends. When Facebook introduced the paid messaging service, anonymous messages are delivered into “Other” message box with an automatic alert for the user.

As of this writing, the system is going through a trial period in the UK and other countries. No official date of release has been announced.

The social networking site’s Graph Search aims to give its millions of users a unique kind of search engine that moves around the confines of Facebook’s network. Using simple English, Facebook users can start searches like “best vacation spots my friends went to” or “which friends have Liked AMC’s The Walking Dead.” The program will immediately come up with a list and since it has been tweaked to take into account the interactions you’ve had with specific friends, the people you connect more often to are ranked accordingly in the search results.

Surprisingly enough, there were attendees to the event who didn’t sound too impressed with Facebook’s newfangled search engine, but the more business oriented individuals no doubt would have immediately seen the advantage this graph can give companies in terms of marketing. Another surprise was Zuckerberg’s candid answer regarding the rift with Google. The Facebook CEO admitted that there were some differences in how their systems shared information and this turned out to be a big deal breaker, prompting the company to secure a tie-up with Microsoft’s Bing.

Without a doubt, a lot of eyes would be on Facebook’s Graph Search as people wait to see if it will be the search engine that would rival Google in popularity. However, that day might still be a long ways off as Facebook’s search engine is still in the beta stage.

Before criticizing the new design of MySpace for its flaws, let’s get to know what great things it has shown to the public. The “New MySpace” offers a new layout like you are looking on a computer’s Desktop. Some site features are all held at the bottom of the page, while the others, such as the user’s profile picture, and the Stream, Library, People, Settings, Sign Out, Invite Friends and Post buttons, are located on a dark gray panel on the left side. The site offers discovering the New MySpace through the descriptions provided on the right as well.

But with all of these things, MySpace must give an explanation, at least, on what the new design is all about, as it was like the social site become an online music store because of Justin Timberlake’s new song “Suit & Tie” being promoted in the front pages of the site. Many have found a great contradiction with this one. And other than that, MySpace users have also experienced difficulties in signing in to their old MySpace accounts, as to one person has received an error after logging to his account, and another one has met “Your home page is undergoing routine maintenance.” And for most of the people, the New MySpace was referred to as an “Internet Ghost Town” when they have checked it using their accounts because of the grey color, and that some profiles were not updated like the 4-year old pictures that they have were still there – and it’s kind of creepy.

But overall, the “New MySpace” has offered an amazing twist in the world of modern social networking. Though many have seen the site through an invite-basis, MySpace has not yet stated about the official launch of the new site because of developments still on-going.

The 18-year-old Cox-Brown might think that his post – “Drivin drunk… classic but to whoever’s vehicle i hit i am sorry. ,” is cool and deserves a few chuckles and likes. But as it turns out, some of his friends didn’t find it amusing. The cops in the City of Astoria didn’t think it was a laughing matter either and promptly arrested the idiotic teen.

Apparently, Cox-Brown left a New Year’s party and decided to drive home drunk. He hit two cars before posting his pseudo-apology on the site. Two people from his friends list promptly informed the police of his post and upon investigation, found that damages on Cox-Brown’s car matched hit-and-run reports that were filed from a neighboring area. The teen was consequently arrested and booked on charges of “failing to perform the duties of a driver.”

But since the police don’t have sufficient evidence to charge Cox-Brown for drunk driving, the teenager will probably just get a slap on the wrist. While it’s sad that no one can be charged for stupidity, let’s be grateful that the only things he did hit were parked vehicles.

Recently, reports declared that the said social media continues to overhaul its system particularly the messaging system and might soon allow strangers to send a message that will be noticeable by the recipient by paying $1.

As the said social network’s update stated, there is an “Other Folder” that will contain everything else that Facebook deems the person is not that much interested about. However, since the company believes that the said idea of the other folder is not so effective, the company came up with a solution.

The solution includes having three particular distinctions of Facebook users who can send someone else private messages. According to the update, there are two ways filtering the inbox messages: the basic filtering and the strict filtering. The former includes seeing messages from friends and people one may know while the latter will have one see message from his or her friends only.

Thus, messages can either appear to someone’s notifications or just end up in the other folder. The one buck fee is said to discourage other people sending messages to strangers, Facebook said.

At the peak of its popularity, the game had over 80 million users on its list. In contrast, the number of Farmville players today has dropped to only 26 million, which is almost a quarter of that amount. While that is still a good figure for a Facebook game, it is nowhere near the big numbers at the height of its success. And so, there have been speculations that an updated version is just what the simulation application requires.

At the moment, the schedule for the release of FarmVille 2 has not been announced by Zynga or Facebook. Aside from this, rumors about other new games from Zynga are also coming out. Nonetheless, the question is whether or not previous FarmVille lovers will welcome a sequel. That remains to be seen as there are no specific announcements yet.

Badoo is now the world’s fourth-largest social network as it passed more than 130 million users worldwide, with one million users found in UK. More than 125,000 new users sign up everyday, with 51 million unique users enjoying the social network’s services every month. And because of this, Badoo is one of the top 65 most visited websites in the world.

When signing up, the site asks you whether you are interested in “Men” or “Women” but it changes depending on where your location is. Then when you’re in, you can take a look at the rows of people in the homepage saying ‘Yes’, ‘No,’ and ‘Maybe’.

Despite being very popular, Badoo still faces some controversy—especially on the privacy settings of the site. By default, your email address is open to everyone in the world which is a problem for cheating spouses who are seeking additional company. But if this doesn’t bother you at all and really want to meet new people instead of interacting with old friends, then Badoo is the social networking site for you.

The eagle-eyed software engineer and researcher found references to a product called “vibe” on the Facebook code that could very well be related to the rumored music service of the company. Recently the largest social networking website in the world launched a video chat service powered by Skype. Part of it is installing a program on your desktop.

Upon curiosity of how the video chat service interacts with Skype, Jeff Rose decided to look into the source code and found out that the installer actually supports two applications. One of those is called “Peep” that is related to the video chat client and on the other end is “Vibes” which is related on downloading a music application.

With this development, it is safe to assume that Facebook is up to something that is related on downloading music. While as of now we can very well dream of how awesome Facebook will be if they would integrate such feature.

Log-in on Mark Zuckerberg’s brainchild with the new HTC Status, the first device with a Facebook button that will land on the US shores under AT&T as its official carrier. The HTC Status has already passed through FCC standards.

The handset has been initially launched in Europe under the name “ChaCha”. It was designed mainly for those who want their Facebook dose, any day and anytime.

Sifting through the details, this one houses an 800 MHz CPU and a 5-megapixel camera on its rear and a 1.3 megapixel camera at the front. It would be interesting to note that the phone’s dedicated camera at the back has autofocus. Now to see how the images turn out, it has a 2.6-inch screen display renders 480 x 320 resolution and running the Android 2.3 alongside HTC’s Sense.

As you can see in the picture, the HTC Status is sporting a full Chiclet type QWERTY keypad.
