Meizu announces that its quad-core "dream" handset, MX Quad-core will be shipped with Android ICS OS. See specs and price details.

Finally, Meizu has disclosed major details on their new MX Quad-Core, the quad-core variant of the company’s flagship Android ICS smartphone.

This week, the company announced that the handset will be put up for sale this coming June and will be the world’s first ever smartphone to utilize the newest Exynos A-9 quad-core processor. This further boosts the MX Quad-Core’s level of power efficiency through the 32 nm HKMG technology, making the phone capable of reducing power consumption by 20%. A 1700mAh battery will also ensure longer functioning.

Compared to its predecessor as well as most dual-core devices, the new Meizu MX Quad-Core performs way better with a faster CPU (60% speedier rates) to improve users’ experience of watching 1080p videos, playing games and so much more. The smartphone sports a 292 PPI HD ASV display, thereby reducing pixels on its screen for a comfortable viewing experience. Moreover, the phone features an 8MP BSI camera that comes with an f/2.2 lens aperture for high quality photos despite low light conditions. As the MX Quad-Core runs Android 4.0, it will make use of Meizu’s Flyme OS for a more consistent performance.

The Meizu MX Quad-Core will be put up for sale on June in at least 400 retail stores. The 32GB model will be made available for $480 in China and $400 in Hong Kong whereas the release of a 64GB version will come with a price tag of $635 and $530, accordingly. Meanwhile, April 16 marks the official day for the price of the original MX to be lowered down to $380 in China and $335 in Hong Kong. Meizu will also be releasing MX back covers for the Quad-Core in five different colors aside from the original white for their users’ preference.

Meizu MX handset will come next year with a dual core variant - and to be followed by the quad core variant later. See other specs, price and features.

After the long wait, Meizu has finally unleashed its MX handset that is considered as the company’s next flagship handset come 2012.

The unit’s quad-core variant is expected to be unavailable until next year. However, it seems that you can start enjoying its dual core version, if you reside in Mainland China, that is. The Meizu MX has been set for official release in the Chinese market on the 1st of January 2012.

The device has a 4-inch display panel that can provide you with 960 x 640 ASV resolution, 16GB storage, 0.3 megapixel front-facing camera, 1GB of LPDDR2 RAM, and 1.4GHz Samsung Exynos 4210 dual core chip. The Meizu MX also has a secondary microphone that is perfect for noise cancellation, along with a 1,600mAh battery. You might also notice that the device has a circular button at its bottom part. Contrary to what many have been initially informed, this is actually just a physical home button and not an optical track pad.

To spread further good news, Meizu also plans to release a 34GB variant of this contraption soon. The 10.3mm-thick MX will be readily installed with pentaband 3G and HSPA+. This means that all you need now is a Micro SIM in order to start the unit. The handset also initially comes with Android 2.3.5 software, but will soon be having the 4.0 (ICS) update.

At a price of $470, or 2,999 Yuan, Chinese gadget fanatics just cannot wait to get their hands on this amazing contraption. Hongkong is also expected to receive the handset at the same time.
