Laptop hunters who are planning to buy a functional yet affordable notebook next year may check on Asus’ latest creation, the U32U.
The upcoming Asus U32U’s exterior is similar with the Intel Core-powered U36. The U32U, however, is now fitted with the more power efficient and cost-effective AMD E-450 Accelerated Processing Unit (APU). The E-450 is the updated version of the E-350 and promises to deliver faster clock rate (from 1.6 GHz to 1.65 GHz), low power consumption, DDR3-1333 memory support and features AMD Turbo Core, which increases the graphics core frequency when needed, like in gaming.
For its specs, would-be buyers will be welcomed with a dual-core AMD E-450 APU, 13.3-inch LED-Backlight display (with 1366 x 768 resolution), 2 GB DDR3 RAM (which can be upgraded to 4GB, 320 GB SATA hard drive (can be bumped up to 500 GB capacity), webcam, Windows 7 Home Basic OS and fitted with an 8-cell battery unit that is rated up to 12 hours. We’re still unsure of its dimensions, but knowing that it’s design was taken from the U36, we should expect the same wafer thin and lightweight chassis.
For connectivity, expect to have 3 x USB 2.0 ports, 2 x USB 3.0 ports, WiFi, Bluetooth v3.0 and HDMI output for streaming HD home videos and images to your brand new HDTV. In addition, the Asus U32U laptop has a 2-year Global warranty so you’ll have a peace of mind. If you’re interested to get one, it will set you back a minimum of $449 and is expected to be available at CES 2012.
$450? Um, how about no.
