It seems that Google Maps is on the verge of losing its appeal among the map explorers and adventurers as TomTom and Apple prepare to release their own version of a custom Maps application.

Its an innovative app from TomTom which licensed Apple to use it for the latter’s upcoming iOS 6. The navigation app is replete with outstanding features ranging from a new and distinct look to a turn-by-turn navigating functionality. Apple will be utilizing its recently acquired C3 Technologies for the content and the map provided by TomTom. The new iOS 6 update comes this Fall and with the new Maps app going along, the update is expected to lure more customers and loyal users.
Apple made the announcement at WWDC 2012 along with the unexpected confirmation by TomTom regarding the mapping technology partnership. TomTom is a known creator of navigation apps and systems. The license to Apple came as a surprise as the company was rumored to be developing its own mapping system. Apple made a complete redesign and overhaul of the application which is controllable through Siri or in a manual fashion and in a hands-free style. The 3D feature is powered by C3 Technologies while more surprises are expected to come out on or before the launch date.
