Budget-conscious phone hunters may have something to look forward to, but after the 2012 Mobile World Congress at Barcelona, which is scheduled at the end of the month. Alcatel will be coming out with a new budget phone, called the Alcatel OT-915. Alcatel is known for producing low-cost and affordable phones, which makes this new mobile phone not surprising.

While the price of the OT-915 is not yet announced, its affordability can be gauged through its very basic specs. The OT-915 will be an Android phone, which will operate using Gingerbread (v2.3). It measures 11.9 mm and will feature a 2.8 display. The capacitive touchscreen of the display will have a 240 x 320 resolution. However, the touchscreen will feature no keypad since Alcatel opted to place a physical Qwerty keypad similar to a Blackberry.
The Alcatel OT-915 also features basic smartphone connectivity, such as wifi and GSM. Consumers may also appreciate its 5 megapixel rear camera and the FM radio functionality.
Alcatel has not announced any release date, but what is confirmed is that the UK market will first get the new Alcatel phone. The Qwerty keypad may also make OT-915 a budget alternative to any Android phone or a Blackberry. While no price is also announced, some expects this Alcatel phone to sell at £100 or around $157. Stay tuned.
